When a trend has been sticking around from season to season, it should no longer be called as a trend but a classic print which deserves an eternal space in the wardrobe, cause you never know when you might need that trendy polka top again for a brunch date like this!
SS19 runways showed such a variety in the print, as polkas this season do not just come in its classic size black & white dots like Burberry’s airy skirt- blouse or Dolce Gabanna‘s classic polka jumpsuit , But also in almost dots of any size and self prints like Max Mara‘s brown dotted trench coat & Prada‘s sheer polka dress.
So polka dots? Nope! Dots of any shape & size really!
The thing with prints however is, they can go wrong if not paired well. Here are a few easy ways to do Polkas right & have fun with it!
- Keep the Polka piece as the highlight of the outfit & use neutral colors to complete the rest of the outfit.
- Polkas being such a grabbing print on its own, you do not really want to mix another grabbing print in the same outfit. However, Floral & Stripes can be an exception if you dare.
- Polka on polka is a YAY! Even If the sizes of the dots on the top & the bottom pieces are different, there are maximum chances the look would turn out cool.
- Accessorize it! You do not necessarily have to go with apparel in the print but you can also do a scarf , footwear, or a hair accessory.
